Cambridge - "geographical" definitions

The admittedly loose geographical terms used in these pages.

These are as seems generally accepted amongst those who live and work near "the centre". These correspond to feelings - perceptions - of what's "outside the centre" - rather than hard geographical divisions.

Historic Centre

In rough terms, bounded by: Pembroke St., Downing St., Emmanuel St., King St., Malcolm St. Jesus Lane, Park St., the river, the Backs, Silver St., Mill Lane.

City Centre

In rough terms, bounded by: Northampton Street, Queen's Road, Silver St., Mill Lane, Pembroke St., Downing St., Regent St., Parker's Piece, East Road, Newmarket Road, Maids's Causeway, Victoria Avenue, Jesus Green, Chesterton Lane.

Central Cambridge

In rough terms it's bounded by the Mill Road railway bridge, York Street, Elizabeth Way Bridge, Midsummer Common, Jesus Green, Castle Hill, Queen's Road, Fen Causeway, Bateman Street, Station Road.
